Bay Area natives, Eldy, Vivian, and Evelyn Nodal, relocated to Rio Vista in 2020 to live closer together and take care of their elderly parents. Despite the COVID restrictions, they explored the surroundings and discussed how best to become involved in their new town. The sisters brainstormed potential opportunities drawing on their many years of business experience and community involvement.
The first step was to move Eldy’s marketing and events business, LDM, to the downtown area (Braids building). They agreed that the front portion of the space would be ideal for a boutique offering items not available in Rio Vista and those they enjoyed making and buying.
The name of the business, Scents and Sew-ability, came about due to their love of all things Jane Austen. Brand ideas quickly followed, and the sisters were off on their retail adventure!
The shop opens on July 8 with a grand opening celebration on Saturday, July 10. The boutique will feature soaps, creams, fragrance sprays, greeting cards, and other handcrafted items. While not a full-service quilt shop, carefully selected quality fabric, sewing notions, batting, patterns, and other quilting essentials will be available for sale.
For now, hours of operation are Thursday/Friday (10a-4p), Saturday (10a-3p), or by appointment. The website is available for online shopping. Free delivery for orders within Rio Vista city limits.
