Ron Jones, the Chair of the Rio Vista Lions Club Scholarship Committee, announced that the Club will be able to award scholarships to all the graduating seniors from Rio Vista High School, that applied for one. The Lions Club, since recently organizing into a 501 (C)(3) Foundation, was given a $10,000 donation from Dry Vac, Inc., a Rio Vista Corporation. In addition, F&M Bank has donated $2,000, one Lion donated $1,000, and the Lion members met an individual’s challenge of exceeding his $250 donation. The Lions met and exceeded the challenge by raising a total of $1,000 within minutes of learning of the challenge and the Club’s Foundation is donating additional funds. The awards will be presented at an awards ceremony on June 8th. during the Clubs weekly meeting. Students receiving $1,000 scholarships are, Karson Christianson, Eamonn Drury, David Forbes, Wyatt Hagan, Fisher Lyon, Jessa Majors, Jessica Mingay, Lacee Myer, Josie Preston, Miguel Quiambao, Bryan Rish, Marisol Segoviano, Ben Sisneros, Carson Spradling, Marivella Torres, Caroline Upham and Arthur Weller.
