On Tuesday, May 2, 2023 eleventh and twelfth grade students at Rio Vista High School heard Lynne Goodwin share Casey’s story. Lynne Goodwin is the mother to Casey, an advocate for positive healthy lifestyles whose life was cut short at age 20 when killed by a drunk driver on her way home from college for her mother’s birthday. Casey was devoted to the prevention of alcohol-related issues and was recognized all over the State of California as an advocate for her peers.
Lynne has over 25 years of experience in the prevention field and currently serves as the Administrator of the statewide California Friday Night Live Partnership, guiding youth development-based programs to success. Lynne travels the country as a trainer and speaker, sharing her passion for community change through youth partnerships and empowerment, community organizing and policy development.
Students at Rio Vista High were encouraged to take “Casey’s Pledge” – a promise to be sober or not drink and drive. This is a state-wide program that encourages youth to commit to staying alcohol free or not drinking and driving , and not getting in a car with a drinking driver.
Thank you Solano County Office of Education/Youth Development for bringing Lynne to speak at the request of the students of RVHS Friday Night Live.
