A New Vision for Our County

By Richie Goldstein, Trilogy/Rio Vista resident

Out of the blue came a story of concern
‘Bout land buyers whose identity we didn’t learn.
But it turned out that this group was not to fear;
They just had a great idea they wanted to share.

These people knew the history of a thing called a city,
That at times was unhealthy, dangerous, and gritty.
That at times was built without much thought
And resulted in city living filled with fraught.

But no matter how bad cities did get,
Humans wanting to live there was always a sure bet.
So, they wondered: Wouldn’t it be great,
Designing a city from scratch to an idyllic state?

Avoiding past mistakes and trying new things
Convinced them it would result in a WIN-WIN thing.
But everyone has to understand,
Right now they can’t build on empty raw land.

But we can’t let a past law get in the way;
We’re hoping people will join us to have a say.
Sometimes farmland has a better use;
Using it for needed housing is a good excuse.

So, this poem is an appeal to help us begin;
If we’re stopped from this project it will be a sin.
So, come out to vote on Election Day
And help us visionaries pave the way.
