Dolores Fonseca

Dolores “Babe” Joyce Viegas Fonseca died July 15, 2022. A resident of Lodi senior living facilities for the past eight years – The Arbor Senior Living, Arbor Place, and Oakmont Assisted Living and Memory Care – Dolores spent most of her 93 years in the California Delta.

Ryde was her home in her childhood years; she attended Beaver Union and Rio Vista High Schools. Isleton was her home in her adult years; she and husband Armand Fonseca settled and raised their three children there, supportive of the activities and sports at Isleton Elementary and Rio Vista High Schools, the community of St. Therese Catholic Church, and the Isleton Lion’s Club.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Armand Fonseca; her parents, Manuel and Mary Silva Viegas; her siblings, Daniel Viegas, Mary Viegas Furtado, and John Viegas; and many other relatives and dear friends.

Dolores is survived by her children Joanna (Lyn) Haston, Armand “Bud” Jr. (Zeta) Fonseca, and Brian (LeAnn) Fonseca; her grandchildren Kevin Fonseca, Joel Haston, Eleanor Fonseca, and Noah Fonseca; sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, and Godchildren; and dear friends in Lodi and from around the Delta.

The Fonseca family thanks all those who gathered to remember and pray for Dolores on Sunday, July 31st at a Celebration of Life at The Point Restaurant in Rio Vista, and on Monday, August 1, at her Funeral Mass at St. Anne, her burial at Cherokee Memorial Park, and a luncheon at Harmony Wynelands Winery, all in Lodi. The family also thanks those who called, posted, and send cards and notes of condolences, as well as those requesting Masses or making memorial donations in her name.

Memorial contributions can continue to be made to St. Anne in Lodi, St. Therese in Isleton, and the Our Lady of Fatima Society in Thornton. Dolores’ final requests were that we pray for her and that we get along with each other.
