New Guidelines for Letters to the Editor

Another city election season is upon us.  Last Friday’s filing
deadline has come and passed.  With that being said, we now know the
candidates for the fall election.
We welcome election-related letters to the editor. We understand it’s
important to hear from our readers on what issues you believe are
important and which candidate(s) you favor and why.

We have some new guidelines for election-related letters.

• Not all letters are guaranteed to be published. Those selected for
publication will run online and will run in print.
• Send us your full name, and phone number. We do not accept anonymous
letters. Only the name will be published. Phone numbers are used for
questions and verification purposes and will not be published.
•The word limit is 300 words. Letters longer than that will be rejected.
• No more than one letter from a contributor will be published in a
4-week period.
• Letters should be issue-oriented and not personal attacks on
candidates. We will not publish letters that criticize a candidate.
• We will also not publish letters in poor taste.
Email your letters to editor at;  riovistabeacon@gmail.com.
We look forward to hearing from you this election season.
These guidelines will also take effect with regards to,
Op-Ed articles, the presidential campaign and all letters hereafter.
Thank you.
