Yay! The Children’s Clothing Exchange is this week! But, take note: the location has moved! On Saturday, September 11, the Children’s Clothing Exchange will be held at St. Joseph Church Hall, 220 S. 4th Street, Rio Vista, from 10am to 2pm.
As before, this your opportunity to trade your child’s good condition (but outgrown) clothes for clothing in the correct size. All season clothes are exchanged so you can stock up on just what you need. To participate, bring clean, good condition children’s clothing (sizes from newborn to teens, no adult clothing please). No money is exchanged. You receive credits for the number of items you donate and can exchange them for clothing of the correct size. Grandparents, family members and friends are all welcome.
To avoid standing in line at the door, call 707-374-3426 to arrange early drop-off so your clothes can be counted early and you’ll receive your credits at the door. If you don’t have clothes to exchange, you may trade canned goods for clothing items. Canned fruit, vegetables, soups, canned meats or fish are preferred (no glass jars please). Donated food will benefit Rio Vista Food Pantry. If you don’t need to trade but have clothes to donate, please call the St. Vincent de Paul hotline at 707-374-3426 to arrange drop-off or bring them to the hall on the day of the event.
This community event is sponsored by St. Vincent de Paul, St. Joseph Church, St. Brigid’s Episcopal Church, and Walnut Grove Community Church and is usually held on the last Saturday of January and August. This year we are holding it on September 11th as we have changed the location and sponsors. If you would like to assist with this event as a volunteer or through a donation, please contact us at 707-374-3426 (this is a message number, we will return your call as soon as possible).
