The holiday season is one of the hardest times of the year for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Walnut Grove Community Presbyterian Church recognizes that and is offering a Holiday Grief Workshop.
The facilitator, Carol Johnson, came to bereavement work naturally, arriving there as a result over her own near death and the death of a young husband and equally young son to heart attacks. Carol has been working with grief and loss for more than 30 years. She worked as a Hospice Director of Bereavement for 20 years. During those years she built one of the most robust bereavement programs in Northern California, including outreach to community-based clients and a training program for the mental health trainees and interns. At the height of her time at Hospice there was 14 loss-specific support groups. Today, she still works with grieving clients in her private practice located in Rio Vista.
