Whew! What a year, but we’re heading to the finish line now, and none too soon!
RioVision is thankful for all of our volunteers who scrambled in the beginning of the year to make changes to events that were planned and had to be canceled. To the volunteers who have continued to help make things happen in the best way they could and to the Board of Directors for keeping it together you are appreciated.
This year RioVision accomplished getting two small shade covers installed at Promenade Park, cleaning up the Western Entrance, working on Egbert Field and planning for bleachers and an ADA compliant table to make games more enjoyable at the field for all who go to cheer their team on. We also began a new project to bring art to public places by working with the City of Rio Vista under the Public Art Ordinance. The RioVision Gallery was closed for a bit and then re-opened under strict State, County and City guidelines to keep our volunteers and customers as safe as possible while shopping unique Delta artists offerings. Oh, and then we were finally able to get See’s Candies back in stock! We also continued to publish the Discover Rio Vista Magazine three times a year. Our fall issue was filled with COVID-19 information for everyone and has been a handy guide. Watch for the next edition coming the first week of January.
We learned you can teach old dogs new tricks as many have learned how to use the Zoom application for meetings. Town Halls where the residents of Rio Vista could meet the candidates for city council and mayor and hear about Measure P. Chief Armstrong and Chief Harris also joined in for Town Halls to provide information on Covid and the City.
At the end of this year that has presented issues we never expected, we learned that we have a great community who continues to work together to provide for one another and we’re looking forward with hope that we can host Hog August Bites 2021 because we think a party is definitely needed!
Wishing everyone a wonderful New Year and again thanks to all who managed to make this year as great as it could be.
