Officers were told that Contra County Sheriff’s Deputies were pursuing a vehicle on Highway 160 and they lost visual of it near the Rio Vista Bridge. An officer in the area saw the vehicle coming off of the bridge and confirmed it was the right car. As soon as the officer turned on his lights to pull the car over, it sped off again. Our officer stayed with him as he drove on Highway 12 near Church at over 100mph. Luckily there were no other cars in the area that would have been endangered. The suspect got to Highway 113 and his car caught fire. He pulled over and jumped from the car where officers took him into custody. They called the fire department to help put out the fire. Officers were called to South Second Street for a possible home burglary in progress. When they arrived, they learned that there was no burglary happening, but a person was inside the home that the owner did not want there. He was arrested for violating the restraining order, but no theft had occurred.

An officer contacted a resident about a forgery of checks. The victim had written two legitimate checks, but it seems they had been stolen from his mailbox. After stealing the checks, they tried to change the recipient and numbers for significantly more money. The checks were caught by the bank and not honored, so no loss had happened. Neighbors had reported seeing a red sedan driving through the neighborhood and looking at mailboxes, but no calls were made to the PD. At the moment, there are no viable leads to follow.

There was a verbal argument on River Road between neighbors. It turns out one neighbor threw a large shard of glass at another person’s head and threatened to kill them. Even though the allegation was denied, officers found surveillance footage with audio that captured the entire incident. The suspect was arrested and taken to jail for assault charges and criminal threats. Following the arrest, a different person confronted the victim about calling the police. The new suspect ended up punching the same victim, so he was taken into custody as well.

One of our Sergeants saw a suspicious car on Sierra Avenue and check the license plate through Dispatch. They advised the car was reported as stolen from Fairfield. After the driver and passenger were detained, we contacted Fairfield PD about their case. It seems as though the car given to a known person for car maintenance, but they never returned it, so the owner reported it stolen. Since this did not appear to be any nefarious activity, with Fairfield PD agreeing, the two detained people were identified and released. Fairfield PD will be following up to see if charges are appropriate and the vehicle was returned to the owner.
