The plan has begin with the re-opening of book drops at all nine branches on Monday, May 18.
Library materials that were borrowed before and during the branch closures now may be returned. The Library asks that the following not be returned in book drops: Link+ items, board games, and musical instruments. We ask patrons to hold onto them a little while longer.
Any fines incurred during the closure period will be waived.
Returns will be quarantined for 72-hours before being processed and re-shelved.
Curbside service for materials pick-up will continue but the branches will remain closed to the public until further plans are finalized.
When will the branches reopen to the public?
At this time, we are closed until futher notice. We will keep you apprised on our reopening date.
What resources can I access while branches are closed?
We encourage you to explore and use our digital and streaming resources: eBooks, eAudiobooks, streaming movies, research databases, digital magazines, and newspapers are available 24/7. In addition, we offer many opportunities for eLearning–build valuable job skills or work on your resume, get one-on-one tutoring and homework help, all from your home. Can I check out more eMaterials while the Library is closed? Yes! We have increased monthly limits for Hoopla and Kanopy.
I have fines and overdue items on my library account. Can I still access digital and online resources?
We have made some changes to allow access to our digital resources so library card holders may access Hoopla, cloudLibrary, Kanopy, Overdrive, and Tutor.com regardless of their account status.
Can I sign up for a library card to check out digital resources?
Absolutely! You may sign up for an e-Card and get 24/7 access several of the Library’s virtual services. With an e-Card, you can log-in and use most of our digital resources without visiting a branch. To sign up, visit https://ecard. splashlibraries.org/
Will there be overdue fines?
During this time, please rest assured that no materials will be considered overdue.
What if some of my holds are ready for pick up?
You do not have to pick up your holds now; they will still be waiting for you when the libraries reopen. However, if you can’t wait, the Library has developed a process to allow for curbside pick-ups of your current holds and/or materials librarians select for you from the branch. This process follows social distancing recommendations. Curbside pick-up is available Monday-Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Call 1-866-57-ASKUS (1- 866-572-7587) to schedule a pick-up time.
Can I place new holds?
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the SPLASH Consortium is not accepting new hold requests. If you successfully placed a hold during the library closure, your hold will not be processed until the library reopens. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Can I get materials for myself or my family?
Yes.The Library will curate materials from the branch for you based on your needs and make them available for curbside pickup. Call 1-866-57-ASKUS (1-866-572-7587) to speak to a staff member and schedule a pick-up time.
