Rio Vista Rotary Gives Back

Rotarians are seeing to it that the stomachs of the hungry in Rio Vista will soon stop growling for a while.

Recently, the local Rotary was surprised when the club received a refund check from Rotary District 5160.  So, the Board decided to put the funds to good use and voted to donate them, plus a little more, to the Rio Vista Food Pantry.  Rotary President Lee Williams invited Rio Vista Food Pantry chief, Lorelyn Hechtman, to attend a meeting at the Point Restaurant, where he gave her breakfast and presented her with a check for $700.

Hechtman, who has raised a family and has been a career school teacher in town, was delighted to see some of her former students as members of the club.  She has also taught many of her former students’ children.  Her father-in-law, Walt Hechtman and her husband, Ned Hechtman, spent many years as Rotarians in the Rio Vista club.
