SUISUN CITY – As part of the celebration for Bike to Wherever Days 2021, one bike champion
from Solano County will be recognized as “Bike Champion of the Year” for their commitment to
biking for everyday transportation. Nominations are being accepted now and the deadline to
submit is April 1, 2021. Go to: https://bayareabiketowork.com/bike-champions-of-the-year/ to
submit a nomination.
“Biking is a great way to improve your physical and mental health, and it’s beneficial for the
environment,” says STA Board Chair and City of Vacaville Mayor Ron Rowlett. “The Bike
Champion of the Year award is a wonderful way to recognize individuals who inspire others to
get on their bikes and try a fun and enjoyable way to get around Solano County.”
Historically, Bike to Work Day is the Bay Area’s premier event to encourage commuters in the
nine Bay Area counties to try bike commuting for the first time, or to recommit to increasing
time spent cycling. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, few people are commuting into their
offices, so Solano Mobility is encouraging people to Bike to Wherever during the entire month
of May. Stay tuned for a list of COVID-19 friendly bike activities.
