Pleasants Valley Agriculture Association to Host 5th Annual Open Farm Days

A Quiet Day in the Country – Open Farm Days: July 16 & 17, 9am – 3pm

Vacaville, California: For the 5th year, the Pleasants Valley Agriculture Association (PVAA) is hosting Open Farm Days this weekend. For many in the Vacaville area, it is an introduction to local farms in Pleasants Valley.

Open Farm Days is an opportunity for small, Solano County farmers in Vacaville to open their doors to the public and show what they do. Participating farms offer a quiet place in rural Vacaville to take a walk around, take photos of flowers and other farm life, meet farm animals, and an open space to picnic with the family. Visitors can support these local farms by purchasing items from their farm stands. In past years, the Open Farm Days weekends included talks, tours, a scavenger hunt for kids, tastings and more. This year, as many farmers are still rebuilding after the LNU fire, or are new farms not quite ready to host visitors, there are only four farm locations participating and the offering is more of a quiet, spacious day in the country experience rather than a weekend filled with activities.

“Open Farm Days is a great time to meet local farmers and experience life on the farm. Even though this year’s event is smaller than those in the past, we still wanted to offer our farms as a sanctuary for those seeking to get out into the country and relax a bit.” – Alexis Koefoed, owner of Soul Food Farm.

This year’s Open Farm Days locations:

Pleasants Valley Agriculture Association (PVAA) is a group of farmers, and agriculture and ancillary business owners, located in the rural areas of Vacaville, with a collective interest in agriculture tourism, preserving agriculture land, and cross-promoting with local businesses in Solano County.
