Rio Vista City Council Votes Unanimously

The State Department of Water Resources (DWR) is making a third attempt since 2008 to build a Delta Conveyance Project (a.k.a. “Delta Tunnel”); the draft environmental impact report (DEIR) is available for public review and comments are due by December 16, 2022.

At their meeting on November 15, Rio Vista City Council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 22-086 in support of the Delta Counties Coalition (DCC) goals as stated therein, to ensure the health and sustainability of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta; this includes opposing an isolated Delta conveyance in any form including under the current title of the Delta Conveyance Project.
City of Rio Vista urges all Delta residents to submit comments to the DWR in response to the draft environmental impact report. The deadline to submit public comments is December 16, 2022. A template comment letter, including submittal address, can be found here: https://view.officeapps.live.com/op/view.aspx…

Here are just a few of the many negative impacts that building and operating the Delta Tunnel would have on Delta communities:
• 3,787+ converted acres of prime, unique farmland along with more saline water and reduced crops
• 17+ significant impacts on Delta communities identified, including noise, air quality, aesthetics, and agriculture
• 13+ years of disruptive construction across six counties with 4,383,500+ truck trips on Delta roads.
