Throughout Main St. are bright red signs and banners shouting news of the upcoming Holiday Home Tour. This bi-annual event showcases special homes in core Rio Vista and Trilogy, decorated for the holidays and open for viewing on Saturday, December 4th.
Four outstanding homes in downtown Rio Vista will inspire you. The large and historic Cook Mansion on Main St. will be open for viewing, a place steeped in local history. A classic 1960’s remodel is worthy of a Fixer Upper show, with clean bright design elements. A late 1800’s “Tea House” and a charming mid-century Mission-Revival cottage are also part of the tour. Trilogy showcases two homes with amazing decor. Just beyond Trilogy, are two homes on the Brann Ranch, a remodeled farm-house and a second home moved from Bird’s Landing in the 1930’s. All homes are decorated by the owners.
The tour is self-guided and ticket holders can view the homes in any order during the hours from 11AM to 4:30 PM. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.com or RioVision Gallery at 116 Main St. Ticket holders can pick-up the tour booklet and map at the Gallery on Thursday, Dec. 2 or Friday, Dec. 3rd from 11AM – 3PM or Saturday from 10:30 AM – 3PM.
Also on December 4th is the Rio Vista Museum’s Olde Tyme Christmas Faire, featuring local artisans, baked goods, fabulous fresh wreaths, and lots of local friends. Rio Vista’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting event is held at the foot of Main St. at 5:30PM that day, followed by the annual lighted boat parade at 6PM, sponsored by the Delta Marina.
The Holiday Home Tour event is held every other year in Rio Vista and benefits RioVision, a citizen driven non-profit working to bring about city-wide revitalization. The goal is a stronger more vibrant Rio Vista.
